Episode 17: Pm's reviews 3

So, for my crazyness about posting apple things, pm's reviews takes a look at the iPod touch. I show voice control, talk about things, I even play a clip from when I was unpacking the unit!
I also demonstrate a few apps, ferrari sound, aurifi, zany touch, ping pong, and light saber.
The whole thing is about 1 minutes.

episode 14: revisiting flight smulator

Continuing to write, right after I published ep13, we already have ep14 ready.
Kevin happend to be in my server, which added some interesting twists. We hear 3 iPod touch apps as a bonus.
The main idea of the podcast though is to demonstrate how does an entire flight sound like, from take off to landing. You will hear about the 2 previous attempts, as well as an... interesting audio excerpt from the 2nd one, which cut the podcast from an hour to about 10 minutes. that's why I didn't publish it in the entirety.
I had fs passengers set to 100 percent failures each flight, and seeing nothing happend durring a relatively safe take-off, I relaxed. then at about 19000 feet we had a decompression which thrown in some interesting twists, such as flying at low altitudes.
Being this kind of brave person, and a blind one at that I landed successfully at our destination, as i wasn't aware what was under us. all I wanted to happen was to crash into a tree.
So get something to drink, buckle up and

episode 12: PM's reviews 1st installment

So I've decided that I should review games. don't think the blind community ever had an actual full blown review where you can hear the game and get an overall opinion from the reviewer. truthfully shitloads of that stuff are floating around on Youtube and where ever else, so...
For this first and I bet ruff review, I am going to review an older game, alien invasion, by code factory. I am not going to focus purely on audio games though, that'd get too borring. I hope I can review you don't know jack in the future, that's another fun game, and no, it wasn't made for the blind, but still it is accessible and it'd get a higher rating then a.i but I didn't think of that at the time.
Get ready for some humor, weird comments and other weird things!

a little announcement

Hi there, this is Peter Mahach, the dude behind PMCast!
Ok guys, this is not an episode this time, and pmcast isn't going anywhere, how ever.
Due to the lack of space on my dropbox I have decided to convert all episodes to .ogg. this means they are much smaller in size. however the format is not as common as mp3 and podcatchers may break. I know some of you may find the switch inconvenient, but it was either this or no more episodes in the future.
A lot of episodes that have been recorded with Kevin and sometimes even Bryan can be found in kevin's The random ramblings of pointlessness podcast found at http://trrop.blogspot.com/
There is also a podcast(s) perhaps that I helped with that aren't here, such as the awesome gameboy advance review starting from his phizical unit moving to emulation on the pc an hitting a nearly 1 hour exactly mark!

episode 11: flight simulator, blind pilots and crazy heads

Microsoft flight simulator was known to blind people for quite a while now.
No wonder. it's one of these complicated but fun things. Blind people can't fly in rl but considering that there are computer simulations for almost anything these days....
In this podcast, I show you a boing 747 in fs 2004 with a nice soundpack from turbine sound studios, wih fs navigator as I can't get it's your plane to install. after making a nice successful takeoff, just when everyone thinks it'll be a smooth flight I delibretly shut down all engins in sequence. you can hear the auto pilot throttle up the remaining ones as it compensates as well as the whines as they power down. and of course then the plane goes into a crazy freefall, complete with epic sfx. 10000 feet down in 15 seconds. you don't hear that often. not to mention there was a thunderstorm and kevin sat down next to me as the announcer.
So buckle up, relax and...

Note, there are some references to someone named aubrey at the beginning and other partsss. this is a guy from youtube who just loves to play game show games. I was thinking of showing him this audio file, but did not get to it. or will I ever? dout it.

episode 8: delicious own-made dessert

in this episode, not only you meat my ca, leave my room, but you also see 2 other rooms and hear a glimps of the. rainy today, outside!
anyway, Once I failed when mixing milk with dry chocolate to make something close to a shake you can get from mcdonald and all this awesome cream popped up. and it was yummy! so here I demonstrate how to make it, as well as let my cat out. finally, we join with kevin outside and talk while I finish the prepared dessert.
here is all you'll need:

  • a cup, necessary. unless, you want to mix milk from your table. sure, I don't mind.

  • a spoom (not a fork as that was what I said in the podcast) to take out the dry chocolate. though you can use other means.

  • dry chocolate. not needed if you don't like it or you simply don't want it

  • milk. that's mandatory!

  • one of these small portable blender thingies that have a handle with some sort of on button or a button you hold down to make it work. these are usually battery operated and they have a longish small pipe with something on the end that does the actual mixing. you could use a big blender, if you have elephant visitors.

  • 5 minutes, or less.

and never never ever go out at 2 in the morning and make it. first, you'll probably drop something and you'll get freaked out. and not to mension you'll get fat, if you use dry chocolate that is.
instructions are provided in the podcast, though I'll rewrite them here.

  1. take out everything

  2. pour milk into the cup.

  3. drop in some a s of dry chocolate. I guess you could use more if you really want a very chocolate taisting result.

  4. insert the device thing and activate it. note the batteries should be new, otherwise it won't work right

  5. work your way from the bottom of the cup upward. if you don't hear any splashing and the device is at low power move it up until it revs up and begins to splash. do that until you feel the result hitting your hand, or quicker.

  6. enjoy!

episode 6: the Nintendo 64

in 1996, nintendo came up with their 64 console. this was the second most talked about thing in game world and in shows such as UK's bad influenceafter the sony playstation, released a year earlier. it's sad that BI ended in 95, so other than behind the scenes stuff they shown actual games, etc, were not reviewed. which, of course, doesn't mean it was the day when earth stopped turning, cats stopped meowing and schools closed for ever.
That said, in this podcast, me and kevin review playing n64 games on the pc. Most of all, we demonstrate project 64 (an accessible and, mostly, stable emulator). we cover working with the program's cheats capability. We also demonstrate a place from where you can obtain free roms and how to make p64 notice them after your collection updated.
And, of course, we review quite a few games.

  • We cover golden nuggat 64, a casino pack which is very accessible!,

  • We feature G.A.S.P fighters, some sort of fighting game with an unusual timer added into the mix,

  • Ready2Rumble! round 2 (a boxing game),

  • Wheel of fortune,

  • mortal kombat 4,

  • and super mario64.

Also, Peter manages to make a workaround so that both teh mic and the computer sounds are recorded. which means you get full stereo and no echo or unclear sound, as speakers aren't used. everything is recorded directly, so enjoy!

episode 5: TS Speech

This episode is epic because of 3 things.
1. we have a brand new jingle, which will proudly be before each episode, this one being the first to have it. you will never forget where we are, now!
2. kevin didn't participate in this one. which means it wasn't a random ramblings of pointlessness episode. This made the PMCast catch up. now both podcasts have 5 episodes!
3. Demonstrated is a very old synthesizer from 1986 running in a dos window. loves to crash, has glitching abilities just like the speak and spell, and just sounds all freaky and fwoofy! we finish with a faik, unedited attempt at peter trying to simulate talking with the thing, as if it was some sort of AI.

episode 4: WebbIE

In this yet another duplificated episode, we start with a surprise. Then, me and kevin take turns in reviewing all the webbie programs in sequence. Multiple times, I call up on the plague of shittyness to the apps, while kevin attempts to take it off. in the end, he manages it!
